I am retired and wonder if I want to move to Chiang Mai for the rest of my life is a good idea? I am chinese and I don’t speak any thai. My wife was born there and she really wants to go back. Anyone know is there an American town there?

I need a furnished apartment to rent in Chiang mai Thailand for several months. The apartment should have broadband (DSL or cable) internet access (or allowed to have broadband internet).
I need this apartment for about 6 months to 9 months, starting around June , or July 2008.

I am planning for a 15 day visit to Thailand and I am planning to spend about a week in Chiang Mai area.
I am planning to see temples, spend a day at elephant sanctuary and do some day trips out of Chiang Mai or visit one of the hill tribes if possible. I am also planning to rent a bike and do some trips out of Chiang Mai.
I want to know how is the weather like in Chiang Mai in mid July? Is it a good idea to visit in July?
