Question about social security and retirement for Americans in other countries?
wakeup asked:
My retired father is coming to live with me in Thailand.I know that Canada lets its retired people collect S.S. directly into a foreign account. But I have heard that America won’t direct deposit S.S. to another countries banks. How does an American go about getting their S.S. into their account in another country.

Get a Swiss bank account!

Just set up a monthly transfer from a US bank to your local bank of choice.
Don’t forget to keep a buffer in both accounts (about one month’s expenses should do) as insurance against any bank errors or delays.
