[...] How much is cost of living in Thailand in U.S. dollars? Author: thailandretire | Category: living in thailand Hephasto M asked: I have a job opportunity (teaching MCAT Biology 6 hours a week) in Thailand in which they will pay my air fare and housing and I can earn 150,000 in Thai money for the year. However, this is only a few thousand in U.S. dollars. I’m wondering if this is enough for me to get by on foodwise and have enough to party a little bit. P.S. The job is a plan B if I don’t get in to med school on my first go around. How to retire in Thailand [...]

[...] Good place(s) to retire in Thailand? Author: thailandretire | Category: retire in thailand Skipper asked: OK, so my plans to retire this coming December have to be put on hold for about 10 months. I’m kewl wit dat…but I’m still coming to Thailand Dec 11, for two or three months, depending on how well I work this visa thing. So, I’m going to check out Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nong Khai, and Krabi, as potential locations to settle down. I thought about Hua Hin but don’t think I can afford to live there. I’ve also ruled out Bkk and Pattaya. Are there any other good towns, where an expat living on about $1800 a month, should check out? Please spare me the “sounds like a dismal life” crap-ola. How to retire in Thailand [...]

Great information Russell! I will be flying to Thailand to visit a former Army boss in Mukdahan for a few weeks. Then, in August, I will attend a TEFL school on Phuket. I live in Michigan after retiring from the Army - bad economy, boring jobs - Thailand sounds pretty good right now! I just hope the TEFL school goes well.
