My girlfriend got an offer to teach in thailand for 11 months. I am planning on going over and seeing her, as I have always wanted to see southeast asia, thailand and vietnam specifically. I am going to take at least a semester off of school, and am curios how much I should plan on spending a month, to live. specifically room, board and food, and of course the occasional beer. thank you!

I’m not sure how much has changed because of the recession, but the dollar is worth a TON in Thailand and Southeast asia. I don’t think you will worry much about money there.

luxury hotel or apartmaent, food(not on the street) it’s about $2500/month but ill be cheaper if u can have a local life like eat on the street and live in a good hotel but sometimes people though that it’s dirty

I would figure $25 to $50 a day depending on how comfortable you want to live.

If you have budget about 20,000 baht/month well a good life in Thailand.

Eating street food you can live off around USD3-4 per day, accommodation can range from USD125 per month for a very small apartment, and beer is around USD1 per bottle from local street stalls. Very easy to spend much more than this though!!
