How can I send my girlfriend in thailand money?

She said if I sent her a $20 she would end up getting 300 baht and the bank would get 500 baht. Is there any wise way to send the money without losing so much.? And no she is not asking for money. this is something I have to do before my surgoery

send it via western union……..they are everywhere….they get exactly what you send…..there is no fee to pay on the receiving end…..you pay it all up front…..

Set up a bank account in her (and in your name) here. Send her the ATM card. You can then make deposits so she can withdrawl from ATMs in Thailand. There will be an ATM fee of maybe $2-$3 but it will be safer and more convienient. Just be sure she doesn’t overwithdrawl.

just mail her the $20 and let her cash it in a any excahnge booth. rate not that great but still better then what your saying. never ever give her a atm card to use. your be a complete fool if you did and soon very broke fool.

Western union is the way forward !
I have used them several times and the money can be picked up in minutes. You pay a fee when you send and she can pick up straight away. Easy money . Your girl will not lose out .

Transfering money via internet banking is expensive for you, not her.
Western Union is also expensive
A German freind found the best way is to send money via post office. He opened an account with Postbank and sent her an ATM card via mail, When she had the card he told her the PIN.
The card has a P PLUS logo and is free for the first few transactions. It is not like a debit card, but when he has sent money he tells her by phone and she has to withdraw the correct amount

There’s no way the bank would keep that much. You can send the cash, but it might not get there. Safest way is through Western Union.
If you have a future with this girl, here is a long term solution – Open a new bank account where you live and send her the bank card to use in Thailand. Transfer in whatever you need to give her whenever she needs it. You generally get the going exchange rate of the bank ATM she withdraws from and very low fees.
By the way, there’s nothing wrong with giving your girlfriend money. Isn’t that simply a fact of life in relationships? haha

If you can SWIFT to her, it means she has a bank account. The minimum bank fee for SWIFT transfers is normally USD 20-50 per transfer … depending on the bank’s terms .. so for small amounts, SWIFT transfers don’t make sense. You can Fedex the money cheaper.
My suggestion is that you send me the money by Western Union … my name is John Doe.
I’ll cover the fees and I’ll give her all the money .. I swear, cross my heart and hope to die.

Jjust send it to her via insured mail, this way she get’s exactly $20 since you cover the costs for sending it.

Hi, there are various means, depending on where you are from. One is cash by registered post. Make sure you bundle the notes in solid paper so that outline do not show. And seal the envelope well so that any incidental cut will not reveal the money.
Another way is to transfer bu telegraphic transfer. Only thing is that the service charge per transaction is about USD25 already. So it is good and reliable if you send large amount and need the security. You need to have a bank account and SWIFT code to transfer though.
Next is remittance office which does the same as telegraphic transfer. Need a bank account to transfer and service fee is much less than TT.
Another way as suggested is opening an account and send her the ATM card for use. You put in the amount for her to withdraw as limit. Need not put in too much as the ATM will not over withdraw.
Hope this helps. Done all these myself.

I have used Moneygram but for more than $20 , I found it cheaper than Western Union.
