visa run in thailand
Jade asked:

I need to cross the border to renew my visa as it’s required for the paperwork I am trying to accomplish. We need to go to an international hospital as well. Can someone kindly tell me where is the nearest and most convenient place to make a visa run to? What border, how do I get there and how much do I pay?

Also can someone tell me how well they enforce laws on immigration and visas and how clear they are? I notice that different people tell me differrent things and sometimes they renew your visa up to 3 times instead of twice. It’s pretty confusing although otherwise I really love the place.

Please kindly enlighten me. Thank you.
All great answers! Thanks! But I want to know also, what if my fiance wants to go with me but his visa isn’t going to expire yet? He has a 1 yr, multiple-entry B visa. What happens if he crosses the border? I was told about “depositing passport to Thai Immigration.” What does that mean?

Its my first time to Thailand, I’m going late Feb (09) on my own. I’m looking for a quiet place on the coast in southern Thailand to relax.

Think desert island, with the opportunity of meeting new people, a ton of culture, a bit of spiritual activity (yoga/thai massage/meditation), and a smidge of nightlife.

Melanie and I take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage around Lampang, Thailand for 300 baht (about ). Lampang is a favorite retiring place for wealthy thai people, but we couldn’t find much of interest there.
