I am thinking about retiring in about 10 years and I want to start planning. If I stay at my current job, I can retire with about $2950 per month (a little under 100 per day).

I would like to retire overseas. I am concidering Thailand and the Philippines.

If I wanted to live in Thailand for a year how much would it cost? I would probably rent a house in the south like koh pangan or koh phi phi. I don’t need anything too fancy but not dirt cheep. Something that is fairly clean and has hot water. I come from a middle class family but can rough it a little. I would want to rent a scooter as well. This would be U.S. dollars. Any estimates?

How to retire in Thailand

Can I just take a bus from Udonthani to the Laos border for the visa run, pay for the Laos visa, and not have to go to the Thai Embassy in Laos capital, but just come right back to Udonthani and do I still get the 30 days back for Thailand?
